A Letter From The Chief:

Dear Prospective Member,

I’d like to welcome you to our website, and thank you for stopping in. If you like what you see, let us know! Click over to our guestbook, and leave us your comments.

If you’ve reached this page, there’s a likely chance you may be interested in becoming a member of the Cassville Volunteer Fire Company.

At Cassville VFC #1, we pride ourselves on our ability to serve the residents of our fire district, as well as those to whom wherever we may be called to serve, with the highest level of training, efficiency, confidence, and professionalism.

It takes a certain special quality to want to volunteer in the emergency services, and it does ring true that not everyone is cut out for it. BUT, if you want to check it out and see if it’s for you, feel free to visit us at our stations during drill nights, or even if you pass by and see a group of members at the station, stop in, introduce yourself and ask some questions..

It takes a great committment, as it IS a job, with long hours and no pay, but there are many benefits, and along with these comes a level of personal pride, satisfaction, and high self esteem, in knowing that you’re doing something good for someone else besides yourself.

We provide all of your training, your equipment, and the means by which to use it, all you have to provide is the will and the want to do it.

The “Firefighting Fraternity” is always looking for a few more good people who want to help. Our neighbors and friends depend on us to be there to help when the chips are down. They know that we’ll be there whenever they need us.

So, if you think you have what it takes to become a firefighter, check us out. You’ll be glad you did.

Sincerely,

John I. Alchevsky
Chief
Cassville Vol. Fire Co. #1

Why would you want to volunteer?

-If you've ever seen a wailing fire engine, and wondered what was happening?

-Ever encountered an accident and wished you could help in some way.

-If you want to make life long friendships, or encounter new challenges.

-If you wish to become more involved with your community.

"Firefighting may not be for everyone, But volunteering can be."

The field of Fire/Rescue is one of the most challenging, diverse, and exciting things you can do. Everyone volunteers for a different reason. Some like the adrenaline rush, some feel a calling, some feel the need to be a part of something greater than themselves. Whatever the reason is, ask any of them if they would trade their experiences with us for anything and the answer will always be the same, "Not in a million Years".

Fully Involved Structure Fire
Butterfly Road - Jackson, NJ

A little background about our organization?

The Cassville Volunteer Fire Company #1 was established in 1939. Our coverage area encompasses more than 60% of Jackson Township. Since 1939 we have been comprised of the highest quality of "unpaid professionals".

We provide well trained, effective, safe and comprehensive fire fighting, extrication (jaws of life), specialized rescue, fire prevention, and the occasional saving of a cat from a tall tree, responding from two stations.

Our Main Station is at the corner of Toms River Road (571) and West Veterans Highway (528).

Our Sub Station is located on Miller Avenue, off Bowman road.

Our fleet currently includes:

-Two Chiefs Trucks
-Three Fire Engines
-One Quick Attack Engine
-One Platform Ladder Truck
-One Tractor Drawn Water Tanker
-Three Brush Trucks
-One Rescue Truck
-One Utility Pickup
-One Antique Fire Engine

How do we respond?

Unlike the career departments in the big cities, we do not have scheduled duty hours. In order to keep up with today's busy schedules, volunteers are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Volunteers only respond during the hours they are available within our fire district.

Cassville Fire Company is dispatched` by the Ocean County Sheriffs Department via the 911 emergency call system. Once the 911 dispatcher receives the call, volunteers are notified via Motorola paging system with voice emitting capabilities.

Once we are dispatched, we respond to one of the two stations within our district, staff the appropriate pieces of apparatus, and then respond to the scene. The Chief officers will respond directly to the emergency scene in the Chiefs vehicles in order to get a head start on a plan of action for when the trucks arrive.

There is a wide scope of operations that we are called upon to do. Our coverage area (district) includes, the Six Flags Great Adventure Them Park, Six Flags Safari Park, Six Flags Hurricane Harbour Water Park, the Jackson Outlet Village, Jackson Memorial High School, two Jackson Elementary Schools, Jackson Board of Education, The Ocean County Library, Jackson Town Hall, Jackson Courthouse, Jackson Police and Office of Emergency Management, Jackson Public Works, two campgrounds, many restaurants, many Retail Stores, three fuel stations, Interstate 195, Highways 527, 528, 537, 539 and 571, Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area, and your Home.

Our Mission Statement

TO REDUCE DEATHS, INJURIES, AND PROPERTY LOSS FROM FIRE, HAZERDOUS SITUATIONS, AND OTHER DISASTERS, BY PROVIDING EXCELLENT, STATE OF THE ART, PACE-SETTING FIRE PREVENTION AND FIRE SUPPRESSION WITHIN FIRE DISTRICT NUMBER 2, TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON. TO BE UNHAMPERED BY TRADITION, WHILE RECOGNIZING OUR PEOPLE AS THE KEY TO OUR SUCCESS!
