Jackson, NJ June 13, 2005— Members of the Cassville Volunteer Fire Company #1 (Station 56) battled an early morning fire in a trailer camper this morning.

The call for assistance came into the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department 911 center at 6:22 am. Cassville Fire Company was immediately alerted to the camper fire at the Timberlake Campground on Reed Road. Jackson Mills Fire Company (Station 54) was summoned at the same time to assist the firefighters from Cassville. Prior to their arrival, the responding firefighters were made aware of a heavy fire at that location by the first arriving Jackson police officers.
Upon hearing this report from the police, additional assistance was requested from the New Egypt Fire Company (Station 39) of Plumstead Township for their Tanker; to ensure that the firefighters had an adequate water supply to battle the large fire.
The first arriving officer for Cassville was Chief Matthew Genovese, who assumed command. Engine 5611 arrived immediately after Chief Genovese and the crew from the engine, under the command of Captain Justin Hanson, initiated an aggressive attack on the fire to keep it from spreading to any of the nearby brush or pine trees and extending the damage caused by the fire. Two handlines were placed into service to contain the fire to the original camper. The fire was able to be contained to just the original camper within ten minutes of their arrival and Chief Genovese placed the fire under control in less than twenty minutes.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Bureau of Fire Prevention, District #2
